The festival of Rakshabandhan shows the unbreakable realtionship between brother and sister. The festival of Rakshabandhan has been going on for centuries. This festival also symbols of brotherly love. On this day of Rakshabandhan sister tie the raksha sutra (rakhi) to their brother's wrist. The Rakshabandhan is celebrated on the full moon of Shavan month. There are stories behind celebrating Rakshbandhan.

According to Bhavishya Purana, the story which is found is as fallows-

After along time there was a War between the Gods and Asuras. War continued for 12 years and finally the Asuras conquered the Gods and conquered the three worlds including the Throne of Devraj Indra. Devraj Indra then approached the planet Jupiter, the guru of Gods and sought advice. Brihaspati told him to do defence legislation with chanting. Guru Brihaspati started the Raksha Vidhan sanskar on the full of Shravan month. During this Raksha Vidhan, Raksha patali was strengthened by chanting. After the puja, this bundle was fastened by Devraj Indra wife Shachi also known as Indrani, on the right hand of Devraj Indra of this defence bundle. It was through this power the Devraj succeeded in defeating Indra Asuras and regaining his lost kingdom.

 Presently this festival is synonymous with sister and brother love.
